Chen Yinke - Chin'inraku

Chinese historian. Born in Yining, Jiangxi Province. Born into a distinguished aristocratic family in the Qing Dynasty, his grandfather was the civil and military governor of Hunan, and his father Chen Sanli was a great poet in the late Qing Dynasty. He studied in Japan and Europe and the US as a young man, and returned to China in 1925 to become a professor at Tsinghua University. He has served as a director of the Academia Sinica, a member of the Institute of History and Linguistics, and a director of the Palace Museum. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he has served as a professor at Sun Yat-sen University and a member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Known as the last literary historian, he is the most renowned historian in modern China, and his works have had a great influence on intellectuals and readers. 中国の歴史学者。江西省義寧の出身。清朝の名門貴族の家に生まれ，祖父は湖南の民政・軍政長官，父陳三立は清末の大詩人。青年時代に日本と欧米に留学，1925年，帰国し清華大学教授。中央研究院理事，歴史言語研究所所員，故宮博物院理事を歴任。中華人民共和国成立後は，中山大学教授，中国社会科学院委員などを務める。最後の文人的歴史家と呼ばれ，現代中国で最も名声の高い歴史学者で，その著作は知識人・読書人に大きな影響を与えた。代表作に戊戌政変の時代を描く《寒柳堂集》がある。
