Itasaka Bokusai's Memorandum

Japanese: 板坂卜斎覚書 - いたさかぼくさいおぼえがき

This book is a compilation of what Itasaka Bokusai, Tokugawa Ieyasu's personal physician, saw and heard while accompanying him on military campaigns, travels, and falconry. It has 3 volumes and covers the years 1594-1604. It covers Ieyasu's camp at Nagoya during the Korean expedition, the earthquake at Fushimi Castle, the movements of various feudal lords after Toyotomi Hideyoshi's death, and the situation before and after the Battle of Sekigahara. The date of its creation is unknown, but the author, Itasaka Bokusai (Munetaka), died in 1655 (Meireki 1). There are many copies, and it has many alternative names, such as "Keinocho Chu Bokusai-ki" and "Itasaka-ki." It is an important historical source on the downfall of the Toyotomi clan. 徳川家康の侍医板坂卜斎が軍陣，旅行，放鷹に随行し見聞したことを集録した書。3巻。1594‐1604年を含む。内容は朝鮮出兵時の名護屋在陣，伏見城震災，豊臣秀吉没後の諸大名の動き，関ヶ原の戦前後の様子などを家康を中心に記す。成立年代は不詳だが，著者板坂卜斎(宗高)は1655年(明暦1)死去。写本が多く，《慶長年中卜斎記》《板坂記》など別称も多い。豊臣氏滅亡に関する重要な史料。《改定史籍集覧》所収。【煎本増夫】
