A town in Chosei County in central Chiba Prefecture. Most of the area is hilly and covered with forests and fields. The main settlement was a castle town in the early modern period, and later developed as a market town. Rice farming is the main industry, but field crops are also practiced. There is an industrial park, and efforts are being made to attract businesses. The Ken-O Expressway runs through the town. It is home to Kasamori-ji Temple (Kasamori Kannon, an Important Cultural Property), a famous Tendai sect temple. Area: 65.51 km2 . Population: 9,073 (2010).
