A general term for microscopic algae that grow in large numbers in ponds and fish farms, turning the water blue-green, and also the phenomenon of their growth. They are mainly blue-green algae such as Microcystis and Anabaena, and prefer nutritious water, and are more prevalent from late spring to summer. They cause damage such as mass deaths of fish and shellfish due to respiratory difficulties and deterioration of water quality. In recent years, toxic blue-green algae that produce liver toxins have been found, and their growth in water sources has become a problem. → Related topics Eutrophication | Water pollution Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
