Abbreviation: Scl. A small southern constellation seen near the southern horizon in the autumn sky. It was newly established by the 18th century French astronomer N. Lacaille. It has no bright stars. There is a group of galaxies in this region of the sky. Its approximate location is 0h30m in right ascension and -35° in declination. It reaches its highest point in the sky at 8pm in late November.
