Zhangye - Choueki

A prefecture-level city on the east bank of the Heihe River in central Gansu Province, China. It has jurisdiction over one city district, four counties including Shandan, and one autonomous county (as of 2016). It has a permanent population of 1,199,515 (2010). As one of the four Hexi counties, along with Jiuquan, Dunhuang, and Wuwei counties, it has flourished as a key point on the Hexi Corridor since Zhangye County was established here by Emperor Wu of the Western Han Dynasty around the end of the 2nd century BC. During the Sixteen Kingdoms period, Duan Ye (?-401) and Juqu Mengxun (368-433) of Northern Liang established their capitals here and fought against Later Liang and Xiliang. In the early 7th century during the Sui Dynasty, Zhangye County was renamed Ganzhou. Today, the Lanxin Line runs through the area, and it is a distribution center for cotton and grains in the Hexi Corridor. In 2011, Zhangye-Ganzhou Airport was opened.

中国、甘粛(かんしゅく)省中部、黒河の東岸にある地級市。1市轄区、山丹(さんたん)など4県、1自治県を管轄する（2016年時点）。常住人口119万9515（2010）。いわゆる河西(かせい)四郡の一つとして、酒泉(しゅせん)、敦煌(とんこう)、および武威(ぶい)郡とともに、紀元前2世紀末ごろ、前漢の武帝によって張掖郡がこの地に設けられて以来、河西回廊の要衝として栄えた。五胡(ごこ)十六国時代には、北涼(ほくりょう)の段業(だんぎょう)（？―401）や沮渠蒙遜(そきょもうそん)（368―433）がこの地に都を置いて後涼(こうりょう)や西涼と争った。7世紀初頭の隋(ずい)の時代に張掖郡は甘州(かんしゅう)と改められた。現在は蘭新線が通り、河西回廊一帯の綿花、穀物の集散地となっている。2011年には張掖甘州空港が開港した。
