Georgii Vasil'evich Chicherin

Soviet diplomat. Born to an old aristocratic family in Tambov Province, his father was a retired diplomat and his mother was the daughter of a diplomat. Troubled by social contradictions from an early age, he worked in the Foreign Ministry archives after graduating from St. Petersburg University to retreat. He then became involved in the revolutionary movement, coming into contact with both the Bolsheviks and Mensheviks abroad. After being arrested and exiled in Berlin, he experienced the Russian Revolution in London. Returning to the Soviet Union in January 1918, he immediately participated in the negotiations in Brest-Litovsk. At this time he formally joined the Communist Party, and served as People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs (Minister of Foreign Affairs) until his retirement due to ill health in 1930.

ソ連邦の外交官。タンボフ県の古い貴族の家に，退役外交官を父に，外交官の娘を母にして生まれる。少年時代から社会的矛盾に悩み，ペテルブルグ大学卒業後，隠遁のため外務省文書館に勤務。その後革命運動に接近し，国外でボリシェビキとメンシェビキの双方に接触。ベルリンで逮捕，追放の後，ロンドンでロシア革命を迎える。1918年1月帰国し，すぐブレスト･リトフスクでの交渉に参加。このとき正式に共産党に入党し，病気を理由に退官する30年まで外務人民委員(外務大臣)の要職にあった。
