The name of a place in Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture. In 1512 (Eisho 9), Hojo Soun built a castle here, and during the Sengoku period, it was a key location for the Later Hojo clan along with their base of Odawara, and became a base for the Later Hojo clan's conquest of the Kanto region. In 1534 (Tenbun 3), when the corridors of Tsuruoka Kamimiya were being repaired, Tamanawa carpenters were in charge of the work alongside those in Kamakura, Nara, and Izu (Kaigen Sozu-ki). It is believed that there was a group of carpenters in Tamanawa who were under the control of the Hojo clan. Later, carpenter Gorosaburo was given land in Kamakura (Odawara Shushoryoyakucho). The lords of Tamanawa Castle were Ujitoki (younger brother of Ujitsuna) - Tamemasa (son of Ujitsuna) - Tsunari (son of Fukushima Masanari, son-in-law of Ujitsuna) - Ujishige (originally named Yasunari, son of Tsunashige) - Ujishun (son of Ujishige) - Ujikatsu (younger brother of Ujishun).
