A former town in Izushi County in northern Hyogo Prefecture. The main settlement is in the valley basin of the Ishikawa River, a tributary of the Maruyama River, and developed as a castle town of the Izushi Domain since the Koide clan made it their castle during the Keicho era. Traditional products include Izushi ware white porcelain, crepe paper, willow products, and Izushi soba noodles. It is home to Izushi Shrine, the Ichinomiya of Tajima Province, and the ruins of Izushi Castle, a famous cherry blossom spot. In April 2005, it was incorporated into Toyooka City along with Kinosaki Town, Takeno Town, Hidaka Town, and Tando Town in Izushi County. 89.13 km2 . Population 11,426 (2003). 兵庫県北部,出石郡の旧町。円山(まるやま)川支流出石川の河谷盆地にある主集落は慶長年間に小出氏が居城して以来出石藩の城下町として発達。白磁の出石焼,縮緬(ちりめん),コリヤナギ製品,出石皿そばなど伝統的な産物がある。但馬(たじま)国一宮の出石神社,桜の名所出石城跡がある。2005年4月城崎郡城崎町,竹野町,日高町,出石郡但東町と豊岡市へ編入。89.13km2。1万1426人(2003)。
