A town in Chita County facing Chita Bay in the central part of the Chita Peninsula in Aichi Prefecture. With the opening of the Taketoyo Line in 1886, it flourished as an outer port for Nagoya. Port and industrial land development in the Kinuura waterfront industrial zone has progressed, with steel, chemical and other factories. Food and textile-related industries are also thriving.
