...Naum Veqilharxhi (1797-1846), Kostandin Nelko Kristoforidhi (1830-95), Jani Vreto (1822-1900), Pashko Vasa (1825-92) and others participated in this movement both at home and abroad, and in the second half of the 19th century the national poet N. Frashari established a modern literature and literary language. The poets who bridged this to the 20th century literature were Ndre Mjeda (1866-1937), Andon Zako Çajupi (1866-1936), and Mihal Grameno (1872-1931).
