The name of the country of Vietnam used from 968 (or 966) to 1054. Dinh Bo Linh, the first emperor of Vietnam to gain independence from China, adopted this name as the country's name upon ascending to the throne, and it was used until the former Le Dynasty (981-1009) and the beginning of the Ly Dynasty, when in 1054 Ly Thai Tong (Li Taizong) changed it to Dai Viet (Great Vietnam). Viet is the name of a region south of southern China, but there are various theories about the meaning of Co (瞿), with the most likely being that it comes from the Vietnamese Co (meaning "prominent"). 968(または966)年から1054年まで用いられたベトナムの国号。
