King who founded the ancient kingdom of Tibet. In the 620s, he established a 12-rank system of official ranks, very similar to the Japanese Twelve Ranks of Caps, and unified the various clans under it. In 638, he fought against the Tang Dynasty and divided and ruled Tuyuhun. In 640, he married Princess Wencheng to his son, King Kunson. He also conquered Nepal and learned about the cultural systems of China and Nepal. After King Kunson's death, he re-elected himself and ruled Western Tibet. In 646, he remarried the princess and swore allegiance to the Tang Dynasty, but he died soon after. [Yamaguchi Zuiho]

チベット古代王国を建てた王。620年代に日本の冠位十二階に酷似した官位12階制を設けて諸氏族をその下に統一支配した。638年唐と戦って吐谷渾（とよくこん）を分割統治し，640年その子クンソン王に文成公主をめとらせ，またネパールを制圧して，中国，ネパールの文物制度を学び，クンソン王の没後に再登位して西チベットを支配し，646年公主と再婚して唐に忠誠を誓ったが，まもなく没した。【山口瑞鳳】
