A device that automatically separates large quantities of products according to their mass. It separates individual products, boxes containing a certain number of items, or bags containing a specified amount of items into heavy, light, and heavy, and is also used to sort agricultural products such as fruits and eggs. The structure varies depending on the shape and properties of the object being measured, but a lever is used to detect the load. The lever is set so that it is balanced horizontally when an object of a standard mass is placed on it, and the inclination of the lever according to the weight is used to sort the object. Mechanical or electrical methods are used for sorting. Since detection using a lever has a slow response speed, some types use a helical spring for optical detection. This is said to have a measurement time of 0.05 to 0.5 seconds per measurement, improving sorting ability.
