Sendai Kujihongi - Chronicles of Ancient Matters

This is a history book that is assumed to have been compiled in the early Heian period. The preface of this book states that it was compiled in 620 (the 28th year of the reign of Empress Suiko) by Prince Shotoku, Soga no Umako, and others, but since it contains quotations from the Kojiki, Nihon Shoki, and Kogo Shui, this book was compiled after 807 (the 2nd year of the Daido period). However, judging from the contents of this book, it is certain that it was compiled in the early Heian period. It is a total of 10 volumes, and records history from the Age of the Gods to Empress Suiko, and also includes an original record called Kokuzo Hongi. The author is unknown, but Tenson Hongi details the genealogy of the Owari and Mononobe clans, and there are many other achievements related to the Mononobe clan, so it is possible that the author of this book was a member of the Mononobe clan. "Tenson Honki" and "Kuni no Miyatsuko Honki" are important sources of ancient history. They are included in the "Kokushi Taikei."
