Playwright. Born in Tokyo. Real name Ginjiro. After graduating from the Department of English Literature at Waseda University, he became a director of the Literary Arts Association and assisted Tsubouchi Shoyo in his work. After the association was dissolved in 1913 (Taisho 2), he founded the Mumeikai Society with Togi Tetteki and Doi Shunsho, and wrote and contributed works such as "Ibaragiya Kosai" (1915) and "Saigo and Butahime" (1917). Later, as the brain of Ichikawa Sadanji II, he wrote his representative works "Meigetsu Hachiman Matsuri" (1918) and "Otokodate Bayari" (1926), displaying a style rich in Edo tastes. He was also a researcher of Genzatugeki (traditional opera), and in addition to his posthumous work Selected Plays of Daigo Ikeda (1942), his Five Types of Genzatugeki (traditional opera) has been reprinted.
