Ukiyo-zoshi. Temperamental Subjects. Four volumes. Written by Kazushi Yakutaro (Ueda Akinari). Published in 1767 ( Meiwa 4 ). Inheriting the tradition of Temperamental Subjects Ukiyo-zoshi, this is a collection of 12 short stories, mainly depicting the lives of concubines. Due to Akinari's writing style and ironic observations, which show his talent, this work is considered a masterpiece among the late Ukiyo-zoshi. 浮世草子。気質物。四巻。和氏訳太郎(上田秋成)作。明和四年(一七六七)刊。気質物浮世草子の流れを継承し、妾の生態を描いた作品を中心とした一二話の短編集。秋成の才能をうかがうにたる文体、皮肉な観照などにより、末期浮世草子中の佳作と評される。
