The Prison of the Ox - Itsuchi no Goku

...A large outside domain with its headquarters in Fukuoka, Chikuzen Province (Fukuoka Prefecture). It began in 1587 (Tensho 15), when Kobayakawa Takakage was given the whole of Chikuzen Province, two counties in Chikugo, and two counties in Hizen, as well as a land of over 300,000 koku, and established his castle in Najima, Kasuya County. In 1598 (Keicho 3), Hideaki was transferred to Kitanosho in Echizen Province, and Chikuzen became a direct territory of Toyotomi Hideyoshi (Taikou Kurairichi), but in 1699 Hideaki was restored to his domain. After the Battle of Sekigahara (1600), Hideaki was transferred to Okayama, and Kuroda Nagamasa of Nakatsu in Buzen Province was given almost the whole of Chikuzen Province, except for the western half of Ito County, and entered the domain.

…筑前国(福岡県)福岡に藩庁を置いた外様大藩。1587年(天正15)小早川隆景が筑前一国および筑後2郡，肥前2郡，高30万石余を与えられ，粕屋郡名島に居城を定めたのが始まりである。98年(慶長3)秀秋が越前国北ノ庄に移され，筑前は豊臣秀吉の直轄領(太閤蔵入地)となったが，99年には再び秀秋が復帰した。関ヶ原の戦(1600)の後，秀秋の岡山移封のあとをうけて豊前国中津の黒田長政が怡土（いと）郡の西半分を除くほぼ筑前一国を与えられて入部した。…
