A theory of nature in Chinese philosophy that says that there are three levels of human nature: high, middle, and low. The idea of dividing humans into high, intelligent, middle, and low foolish can be found in the Analects of Confucius, but it was not until the Late Han Dynasty that it was established as a theory of nature. It is well known that the Tang Dynasty scholar Han Yu emphasized this theory in his book Yuan Xing.
