Hydrogen storage metals

Japanese: 水素吸蔵金属 - すいそきゅうぞうきんぞく

A metal that stores hydrogen and heat by utilizing a reaction that produces hydrides. It is also called a hydrogen storage metal. Metal elements such as titanium and lanthanum that produce intermetallic hydrides through an exothermic reaction with hydrogen, and alloys of iron and nickel that dissolve hydrogen through an endothermic reaction, are known to have excellent properties. They can be used for storing and transporting hydrogen as a clean energy source, and for freezing and refrigeration.

水素化物を生成する反応を利用して水素の貯蔵や熱の貯蔵を行う金属。水素貯蔵金属とも。優れた特性をもつものとして，水素との発熱反応によって金属間化合物的な水素化物を生じるチタン，ランタンなどの金属元素と，吸熱反応によって水素を固溶する鉄やニッケルとの合金が知られている。クリーンエネルギーとしての水素の貯蔵・輸送，冷凍・冷蔵などに利用できる。
