A metal that stores hydrogen and heat by utilizing a reaction that produces hydrides. It is also called a hydrogen storage metal. Metal elements such as titanium and lanthanum that produce intermetallic hydrides through an exothermic reaction with hydrogen, and alloys of iron and nickel that dissolve hydrogen through an endothermic reaction, are known to have excellent properties. They can be used for storing and transporting hydrogen as a clean energy source, and for freezing and refrigeration. → Related items Titanium alloys Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
