1243‐1306 A Goryeo civil servant and scholar. His given name was Kan and his pen name was Shiun. He was from Sunheung. During the Yi Dynasty, he was called Anyu to avoid the king's given name. He held the position of Dujin Yi Jungsan. During the reign of King Chungnyeol, he was appointed as the advocate of Goryeo Confucianism and accompanied the king to Yenching (Beijing) in the Yuan Dynasty. He returned to Korea after copying out the Complete Works of Zhu Xi, and was the first to introduce Zhu Xi's teachings to Korea. He made efforts to promote education, including the establishment of schools, and in his later years he always had a statue of Zhu Xi on display as a venerable figure, and took one character from Zhu Xi's pen name (Hui'an) to take the name Huiken.
