This was followed by Hollywood films produced and directed in Britain by S. Kubrick, such as 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), A Clockwork Orange (1971), and Barry Lyndon (1975). From the late 1970s to the 1980s, American films were produced in Britain, such as the Star Wars series, the Superman series, and Flash Gordon, which were based on American comics and filmed in British studios. This became a major trend toward making American films in Britain. (3) The producer who created the first golden age of British cinema, its international success, was Alexander Korda, who came to Britain from Hungary via Hollywood.

[The Birth of Space Fantasy]
In 1968, 20th Century Fox's Planet of the Apes and MGM's 2001: A Space Odyssey ushered in a new era of science fiction films. Planet of the Apes was a huge hit that gained popularity not only among science fiction fans but also among adults and children in general, despite being a hard science fiction film dealing with time paradoxes, and was so successful that it became a five-film series, giving science fiction films box office credibility. 2001: A Space Odyssey, a 70mm epic directed by Stanley Kubrick, which was based on a screenplay by science fiction writer A.C. Clarke and introduced the latest technology into its filmmaking techniques with the full cooperation of NASA, was the first science fiction film to receive artistic acclaim, being ranked in the top ten films in the world. The psychedelic effect at the climax of this work can be said to be the most innovative visual experiment since the hallucination shows held by H.G. Wells in 1895, in the sense that it forces viewers to experience a different dimension beyond their comprehension, even if they find the subsequent philosophical parts symbolizing the progress of mankind, life and death, and the eternity of life difficult to understand.
