Catalog of items received - Shorai Mokroku

Japanese: 請来目録 - しょうらいもくろく

These are lists of items such as sutras, sutra commentaries, Buddhist paintings, Buddhist statues, and Buddhist implements brought back by monks who traveled to China and Song China, and presented to the Imperial Court after their return. The most famous are the lists of items brought back by the eight monks who traveled to China: Saicho, Kukai, Jōkyō, Engyō, Ennin, Keiun, Enchin, and Soei. In addition to these lists, it is known that other sutras, Buddhist statues, and Buddhist implements existed due to remains and later copies, and items not included in the list are recorded in the "Sho Ajari Shingon Mikkyō Burui Soroku," compiled by Godaiin Anzen in 885 and 902. These lists give us an insight into the state of Buddhist art at the time. They have particularly contributed greatly to the study of esoteric Buddhism rituals and iconography. The lists of items brought back by Sozen and Shūnshū who traveled to Song China are also famous.

入唐，入宋した僧侶らが持ち帰った経典，経疏，仏画，仏像，仏具などの品目を帰朝後に朝廷に献上した目録。最澄，空海，常暁，円行，円仁，恵運，円珍，宗叡の入唐八家の請来目録が著名。これらの目録以外にも経典，仏像，仏具などが存したことが遺品やのちの模写体によって知られ，また元慶9（885）年と延喜2（902）年に五大院安然が集大成した『諸阿闍梨真言密教部類惣録』には録外品目が記されている。これら目録によって当時の仏教美術の事情がわかる。ことに密教の儀軌や図像の研究に大いに貢献した。入宋した奝然，俊芿の請来目録も著名。
