A diary from the Northern and Southern Court period. The author was Naoko (1310-58), the daughter of Hino Sukena and wife of Saionji Kinmune. The diary spans from 1329 (Gentoku 1) to 1349 (Shohei 4, Sadawa 5), and covers half of the author's life, from her marriage in the midst of the wars of the Northern and Southern Courts, to her raising her only son, Sanetoshi, to succeed the Saionji family after her husband was executed for plotting to restore the Kamakura shogunate. The title of the book comes from the name of the building where Naoko lived, the Saionji residence, which was also called "Takemukidono."
