Joan [II] - Joan
King of Portugal (reigned 1481-1495). He suppressed rebellions by the nobles and unified the country, consolidated the foundations of absolutism, and supported voyages of exploration, such as B. Diaz's arrival at the Cape of Good Hope. In 1494, he signed the Treaty of Tordesillas with Spain, which established the territories of the New World.
