1499‐1546 Giulio Pippi was a 16th-century Italian painter and architect who was a representative Mannerist painter. Born in Rome, he trained in the workshop of Raphael. As his most accomplished student, he collaborated with him on many of his master's later works, including the murals in the Vatican. In 1524, he was invited by Federico Gonzaga to move to Mantua, where he built the duke's villa, Palazzo del Te (1525-32), worked on the renovation of the main palace, Palazzo Ducale, and supervised the city's urban and hydraulic planning.
