A society founded in 1872 by members of the German New Historical School. In response to the development of German capitalism and the rise of the working class, it examined policies for various social issues. However, because it advocated social reformism in line with national policy, liberals sarcastically called it "pulpit socialism." Representative figures included Schmoller, Rotbertus, Brentano, and A. Wagner. After World War II, it was relaunched as the Society for Economic and Social Science. In Japan, a society of the same name was founded in 1897, modeled after the German Society for Social Policy. Representative figures included Kanai Nobu, Onozuka Kihei, and Takano Iwasaburo. → Related article Hildebrand Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
