Lake Aoki

Japanese: 青木湖 - あおきこ

This lake is located in the northwest of Nagano Prefecture, north of Omachi City. Along with the two lakes Nakatsuna and Kizaki to the south, it is named after the medieval town name Nishina in the region, and is counted as one of the Nishina Three Lakes. The water surface is 822 meters above sea level, has an area of 1.72 square kilometers, and a circumference of 6.7 kilometers. As it was flooded in a fault valley on the eastern edge of the Northern Alps, its deepest point is 58 meters, making it the deepest of all lakes and marshes in the prefecture. There are hotels and villas on the lake shore, and the Thirty-three Kannon statues along the highway, making it a popular resort. It is also good for fishing and camping. The JR Oito Line and National Route 148 run along the east shore.

Lake Aoki

長野県北西部、大町市(おおまちし)の北方にある湖。南に連なる中綱(なかつな)、木崎の2湖とともに、中世この地方の郷名仁科(にしな)をとり、仁科三湖の一つに数えられている。水面の標高822メートル、面積1.72平方キロメートル、周囲6.7キロメートル。北アルプスの東縁の断層谷に湛水(たんすい)したため、最深部は58メートルと県下湖沼中最深。湖岸にはホテル、別荘など、街道沿いに三十三観音像などがあり、保養地をなす。釣り、キャンプにもよい。東岸をJR大糸線と国道148号が通る。
