Tentsuki - Amatsuke

...Population: 20,097 (1995). The Jomon and Yayoi ruins in Amatsuke show that people have been living here since early times. The Hisatama clan, one of the five Amakusa clan members of the Middle Ages, built Hisatama Castle (a sea castle), and with the rise of trade with the South Seas and the shipping industry, Ushibuka Port flourished as a stopover point on the way to Nagasaki, Satsuma, and Ryukyu.
