Magnetic anomaly - geomagnetic anomaly

This refers to a regional magnetic field anomaly that occurs when rocks containing large amounts of magnetic minerals such as magnetite cool and become magnetized by the Earth's magnetic field. Volcanoes, dikes, and other things also have magnetic anomalies, so their observation is used in resource exploration (magnetic exploration).
