Japanese: 時課 - じか（英語表記）liturgy of hours

One of the Christian liturgies. It has also been called the canonical hours or the divine office, but in modern times it is called the prayer of the church. According to the Bible, since the Old Testament, there has been a custom of praying at certain times a day, including morning and evening (Psalm 55:18, etc.), and Christ also prayed frequently (Mark 6:46, etc.), and his disciples also began to pray at certain times (Acts 2:15, 3:1, 10:9, etc.).

キリスト教の典礼の一つ。〈時禱canonical hours〉〈聖務日課divine office〉とも呼ばれてきたが，現代では〈教会の祈り〉といわれる。聖書によれば，旧約時代から朝晩をはじめ，一定の時刻に一日に何回か祈る習慣があり(《詩篇》55：18など)，キリストもたびたび祈り(《マルコによる福音書》6：46など)，弟子たちも一定の時刻に祈るようになった(《使徒行伝》2：15,3：1,10：9など)。
