Samburu tribe - Samburu (English spelling)
They are one of the Nile-Hamitic peoples who live in the northern hills of Kenya, from the savanna to the sparse acacia forests. They speak the Maasai language, which is part of the southern Para-Nile group. They lead a nomadic lifestyle, focusing on cattle ranching, but a small proportion of them also practice agriculture. Their society is made up of exogamous patrilineal clans, which are integrated into half tribes. Circumcision ceremonies to form age groups are held once every 14 years, which is significantly longer than other pastoral peoples. Their residential communities are small, with an average of 24 people (5-6 households), and they are highly mobile. They are enemies of the powerful neighboring Turkana and Borana peoples, but are allied with the Rendille people to the north, and share land. Some people who have lost their cattle to robbery or other causes enter the mountain forest and join the hunter-gatherer Dorobo people.
