Germiston - Germiston (English spelling)

A mining and industrial city in the southeastern part of Gauteng Province (formerly Transvaal Province) in the northeastern part of South Africa. It is located 16 km southeast of Johannesburg. It has a population of 186,423 (1990). Since the railway was opened from Cape Town in 1892, it has developed as a key railway transportation hub and is the country's largest railway connection point. It is also the center of the world's largest gold-producing region, producing about 700 million tons per year, accounting for about 70% of the world's gold production. There are more than 600 gold mines and railway-related companies, and it has developed into one of South Africa's leading industrial cities.

南アフリカ共和国北東部、ハウテン州（旧トランスバール州）南東部の鉱工業都市。ヨハネスバーグの南東16キロメートルに位置する。人口18万6423（1990）。1892年ケープ・タウンからの鉄道が通じて以来、鉄道交通の要地として発展し、同国最大の多数鉄道線接続地となっている。また世界最大の産金地域の中心地で、年間約7億トンを産し、世界の金生産額の約70％を占める。600以上の金鉱、鉄道関連企業があり、南アフリカ共和国有数の工業都市に発展している。
