Japanese: 薩戒記 - さっかいき

This is the diary of Nakayama Sadachika, a nobleman in the mid-Muromachi period. The title "Satsukai" is a Chinese-style pseudonym of "Sadachika" (a type of pseudonym created by using the upper and lower sounds or readings of a two-character name), and is also called "Soudaiki" or "Sadachika Koki." The articles cover the period from 1418 to 1443, but there are many gaps, and it also includes news and proclamations up to 1448. It is valuable for learning about the politics, society, historical facts, and ceremonies of the Muromachi period. During the Shocho peasant uprising, in 1429 (Shocho 2), the "natives" of Harima Province attacked the military forces of the shugo, and the peasant uprising slogan "Samurai should not be allowed to reside in the country," written in this book, is famous.

室町時代中期の公家である中山定親(さだちか)の日記。書名の〈薩戒〉は，〈さだちか〉の唐風反名(かえしな)（二字の人名の上下の音や訓を利用してつくる変名の一種）で，《霜台記(そうだいき)》《定親公記》などともいう。記事は1418年から1443年にわたるが，欠落が多く，1448年までの消息や宣下(せんげ)なども含まれる。室町期の政治・社会や故実・儀式などを知るうえで貴重。正長(しょうちょう)の土一揆の過程で，1429年（正長２年）に播磨国の〈土民〉が守護方の軍勢を攻撃，本書に記された〈侍をして国中に在(あ)らしむべからず〉という土一揆のスローガンは有名。
