Japanese: 座席利用率 - ざせきりようりつ（英語表記）load factor

It is the number of passengers boarding an aircraft divided by the number of seats, and is based on the number of people. In rail transport, this is called passenger occupancy rate, and in marine transport, it is called passenger load factor. If 250 people are on a 500-seat aircraft, the seat load factor per flight is 50%. The seat load factor on a kilometer basis is calculated by dividing the number of paying passengers multiplied by the flight distance (revenue passenger kilometers) by the number of available seats multiplied by the flight distance (available seat kilometers). The seat load factor is closely related to the break-even load factor, an important management indicator, and it is said that if the seat load factor exceeds the break-even load factor, the aircraft will be profitable.

航空機に搭乗した旅客数を座席数で割ったもので，人数ベースによる。同様のことを鉄道では乗車効率，海運では客席利用率という。500席の航空機に250人乗れば，1便当りの座席利用率は50％となる。なおこの旅客のうち，有償で搭乗した旅客数に飛行距離を乗じた〈有償旅客キロメートル〉を，有効座席数に飛行距離を乗じた〈有効座席キロ〉で割ったものをキロベースによる座席利用率という。座席利用率は重要な経営指標である損益分岐利用率と密接な関係をもっており，座席利用率が損益分岐利用率を上回れば，利益をもたらすとされている。
