Bungo Sakurada

Japanese: 桜田文吾 - さくらだ ぶんご
Bungo Sakurada
1863-1922 A journalist from the Meiji and Taisho periods.
Born in 1860. He joined Kuga Katsunan's Nihon Shimbunsha newspaper company and became known for serializing his travelogues of the slums of Tokyo and Osaka. He later moved to Kyoto, where he founded Kyokasha and Kyoto Tsushinsha, and served as a city council member. He passed away on December 31, 1922, at the age of 60. He was born in Sendai, Mutsu, and graduated from Tokyo Law School (now Chuo University). His pen names were Taiga and Issun-boshi.

文久3年生まれ。陸羯南(くが-かつなん)の日本新聞社にはいり,東京,大阪のスラム街探訪記を連載して知られる。のち京都にうつり,京華社,京都通信社を創設し,市会議員をつとめた。大正11年12月31日死去。60歳。陸奥(むつ)仙台出身。東京法学院(現中央大)卒。号は大我,一寸法師。
