Gold Dredger

Japanese: 採金船 - さいきんせん（英語表記）gold dredger

A flat-bottomed dredger used to extract gold dust. It excavates the gravel layer of the riverbed containing gold dust, separates it on board, extracts the gold dust concentrate, and returns the waste rock to the site. Dredges are equipped with bucket ladders, dippers, and suction pumps. Dredges are also equipped with various separation equipment. They are also used to extract placer deposits of tin, titanium, zircon, and diamonds.

砂金採取用の平底の浚渫 (しゅんせつ) 船。砂金を含む川底の砂礫層を掘削し，船上でこれを選別して砂金精鉱を採り，廃石は採掘跡に戻す。掘削にはバケットラダー，ディッパー，サクションポンプなどが用いられる。また種々の選別装置も積込まれている。スズ，チタン，ジルコン，ダイヤモンドの砂鉱床の採掘にも使用される。
