Konchi-in Temple

Japanese: 金地院 - こんちいん

This is a subtemple of the Nanzenji Temple of the Rinzai sect, located in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City. It is said to have been founded by Daigyo Tokuki during the Oei era (1394-1427), and was rebuilt as a subtemple of Nanzenji Temple by Ishin Suden in 1605. The Zenshu Seika Gozan Sorokuji Kinchiincho (1790) records that the temple's red seal stipend was 700 koku. The Honko Kokushi Nikki (Diary of Honko Kokushi), which is in the temple's possession, is the original, and is an Important Cultural Property, along with the abbot's chamber, Toshogu Shrine's main hall, Toshogu Shrine's stone room, Toshogu Shrine's worship hall, and the eight windows seats. Two paintings, Autumn and Winter Landscapes, which were in the possession of Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, and the ink painting Small Riverside View, believed to have been painted by Myocho in 1413, are both designated as national treasures.

京都市左京区にある臨済宗南禅寺の塔頭。大業徳基により応永年間 (1394～1427) に創建されたと伝えられ，慶長 10 (1605) 年に以心崇伝が南禅寺塔頭として再興した。寛政2 (1790) 年の『禅宗済家五山僧録司金地院牒』には御朱印高七百石と記される。所蔵される『本光国師日記』は原本であり，方丈や東照宮本殿，東照宮石の間，東照宮拝殿，八窓席とともに，重要文化財。絵画では足利義満が蔵していた『秋景冬景山水図』，応永 20 (1413) 年明兆筆とされる墨画『渓陰小築図』がともに国宝に指定されている。
