〘Noun〙 A type of stone. A pyroxene andesite found along the coast of the Izu Peninsula. There are two types: Honkomatsu, which is gray and fine-grained with few phenocrysts, and Shinkomatsu, which is gray or reddish brown, relatively coarse-grained, and has many phenocrysts. *From Edo to Tokyo (1921) <Yata Soun> 7 "This grave is made of Komatsu stone (Komatsuishi) with a total height of seven feet, with three tiers of pedestals." 〘名〙 石材の一つ。伊豆半島海岸一帯に産する輝石安山岩。灰色できめこまかく、斑晶の少ない本小松と、灰色または赤褐色で比較的きめ荒く斑晶の多い新小松とがある。※江戸から東京へ（1921）〈矢田挿雲〉七「此の墓は三段の台石ぐるみ総高さ七尺の小松石(コマツイシ)で」
