Katsushuha Dam

...A city on the north bank of the Yangtze River in the western part of Hubei Province, China. Population 500,000 (1994). It governs two cities, five counties, and two autonomous counties. It is connected to the Jiaozi Railway (Jiaozuo-Liuzhou) by the Yaoyi Railway (Yaoqueling-Yichang). It was the land of Chu during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. During the Han Dynasty, it was called Yiling County, during the Qing Dynasty, Donghu County, and in 1912, Yichang County. In 1949, Yichang City was established based on the county's urban district and suburbs. It occupies the eastern entrance of the Three Gorges and is the "throat" of the Sichuan Basin, and has long been called the "throat of the river (Sichuan) and E (Hubei)" as a key transportation and military point. ...
