Born in 1719. The second son of Kanze Kiyochika. The younger brother of Kanze Motoakira, the 15th head of the Kanze school. After his father's death, he took the name Oribe. In 1752, the shogunate recognized the founding of a branch of the Kanze school (the Tetsunojo family) and granted him the same status as the head of one of the four schools. After the death of his brother's adopted son, Kanze Shogaku, the 16th head of the Kanze school, he became the 17th head of the Kanze school. He died on October 18, 1782, at the age of 56.
