A Japanese electronics manufacturer. Its main products are hardware and information systems. It has maintained a world-class position in computers. It is also a major player in communications and semiconductors. In 1935, it was established as Fuji Tsushinki Seizo, taking over the telephone factory equipment and communications equipment-related business of Fuji Electric Seizo. It began manufacturing relay computers in 1951, succeeded in developing a large general-purpose computer in 1961, and launched the FACOM230 series in 1965, marking the start of full-scale business activities in this field. 日本の電機メーカー。ハードウェア，情報システムを主力とする。コンピュータでは世界トップクラスの位置を保持してきた。通信と半導体でも大手。1935年に富士電機製造の電話工場設備および通信機関係の事業を分離継承し，富士通信機製造として設立。1951年よりリレー式コンピューターを製作，1961年には大型汎用コンピューターの開発に成功し，1965年からFACOM230シリーズを発表しこの分野での本格的な事業活動が始まった。1967年現社名に変更。海外戦略も積極的で米国のアムダール社，英国のICL社を傘下にもつ。最近ではオンライン銀行やネット証券会社を設立し，インターネット事業に力を入れるなど，ソフトウェア・サービス部門の拡充を図っている。2009年９月野副州旦社長の病気療養を理由に社長辞任，間塚道義会長が社長を兼務すると発表。野副前社長は，「社長の不適格性」を理由に解任されたと主張，2010年３月臨時取締役会で，前社長を相談役からも解任。解任理由を，「当社が関係を持つことはふさわしくないと判断した企業と関係を続けたため」と発表した。日本の世界企業でのトップ人事でこうした係争が公表されるのは珍しく，注目を集めた。2011年３月期売上高４兆5284億円。資本金3246億円（2011）。売上構成（％）は，テクノロジーソリューション65，ユビキタスソリューション22，デバイスソリューション12，その他１。海外売上比率35％。
