Copper Belt

Japanese: コッパー・ベルト(英語表記)Copper Belt
Copper Belt
This is one of the world's largest copper deposits, stretching from Zambia to the Democratic Republic of the Congo in southern Africa, approximately 500 km long and 80 km wide. The copper produced here has made the two countries major copper producers, alongside Canada, after the United States, Russia, and Chile, and it is estimated that they contain 12% of the world's onshore copper resources. Cobalt, which is recovered as a by-product, is also important, and the two countries produce nearly 70% of the world's cobalt. The deposits are layered deposits in sandstone and shale from the late Proterozoic era, and the copper content is usually 3-5%, sometimes reaching 15% or more.
