May 7th Cadre School (English name)

Japanese: 五･七幹部学校 - ごしちかんぶがっこう（英語表記）Wǔ qī gàn bù xué xiào

Farms were established to allow cadres of the Chinese Communist Party and government agencies to go to rural areas to participate in productive labor, raise their political consciousness, and change their bureaucratic and dogmatic ways. Based on the spirit of the instruction (the "May 7th Instruction"), which was stated in a letter dated May 7, 1966, by Mao Zedong to Lin Biao, "Let's turn the whole country into a large revolutionary school," the Heilongjiang Provincial Revolutionary Committee opened the first farms in the rural area of Liuhe, Qing'an County, Heilongjiang Province, on May 7, 1968. They were then rapidly spread throughout the country, and all serving cadres, except for the elderly, infirm, sick, and physically disabled, were required to take turns receiving education there for a certain period of time.

中国共産党および政府機関の幹部が，農村に下放し生産労働に参加して政治意識を高め，官僚主義･教条主義的作風を改めるために開設された農場。1966年5月7日付で毛沢東が林彪にあてた手紙で述べた〈全国を革命化した大きな学校にしよう〉という指示(〈五･七指示〉)の精神にもとづいて，黒竜江省革命委員会が68年5月7日に，同省慶安県柳河の農村に開設したのがはじまり。その後，急速に全国に広められ，在職幹部で老人，虚弱者，病人，身体障害者以外はすべて，交代で一定期間，そこで教育を受けることが義務づけられた。
