Kokuseiji Temple

Japanese: 国清寺 - こくせいじ

[1] A Tendai sect temple located on Mount Tiantai in central-eastern Zhejiang Province, China. Emperor Wen of the Sui dynasty founded the temple as a memorial for Zhiyi , and in 605 Emperor Yang renamed it Tendai-ji . Many monks from Japan, including Saicho, came to practice at the temple. [2] A Rinzai sect Engakuji school temple located in Izunokuni City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The mountain name is Tenchozan. It is said to have been founded by Hatakeyama Kunikiyo during the Kōgen era ( 1256-57 ). [3] A Rinzai sect Myoshinji school temple located in Kobashi-machi, Okayama City. The mountain name is Banzaizan. Founded by Ikeda Toshitaka in 1609. It is the family temple of the Ikeda family.

[一] 中国、浙江省中東部の天台山にある天台宗の寺。隋の文帝が智顗(ちぎ)の追福のため天台寺を創建、六〇五年煬帝(ようだい)により改称された。日本からも最澄をはじめ多くの僧が訪れて修行した。[二] 静岡県伊豆の国市にある臨済宗円覚寺派の寺。山号は天長山。康元年間（一二五六‐五七）畠山国清の創建と伝えられる。[三] 岡山市小橋町にある臨済宗妙心寺派の寺。山号は万歳山。慶長一四年（一六〇九）池田利隆が創建。池田家の菩提所。
