Cocoon Certification

Japanese: 繭検定 - まゆけんてい（英語表記）cocoon certification

This is an inspection of cocoon quality to ensure smooth and fair trading. In accordance with the Sericulture and Silk Industry Law, this is carried out by prefectural cocoon inspection offices. Items related to raw silk volume include the cocoon selection rate and raw silk rate, while items related to cocoon quality include the unwinding rate and cocoon thread length. In the past, cocoon thread fineness, small nodes, and cocoon uniformity were also included in the inspection items as points to increase or decrease cocoon quality, but these have not been used since 1965. With the automation of silk reeling, cocoon inspection is now also done by automatic reeling.

繭取引を円滑公正に行うために品位を調べること。蚕糸業法により都府県の繭検定所で行なっている。生糸量に関する項目として選除繭歩合と生糸歩合，繭格に関する項目として解舒率と繭糸長がある。かつては繭糸繊度，小節点，繭の整斉度も繭格の増減点として検定の項目に入っていたが，1965年からは採用していない。繰糸の自動化に伴い，繭検定も自動繰糸によるようになった。
