Carnegie Endowment for International Peace is an American endowment established in 1910 by A. Carnegie with the goal of promoting international understanding and world peace. Its main activities include research, publishing, communication, and training programs in the fields of international relations, international organizations, and international law. In recent years, it has been carrying out (1) research programs on the U.S. government's humanitarian foreign policy in the areas of famine in Bangladesh and Africa, and the Rhodesian sanctions issue, (2) programs for international organizations, such as the establishment of an international information center and the holding of United Nations studies meetings, (3) a foreign affairs forum to improve communication between U.S. government foreign policy officials and private citizens, and (4) "Project Dialogue" with black and African students to deepen understanding of racial issues in foreign policy.
