Japanese: 江津[市] - ごうつ

A city in central Shimane Prefecture facing the Sea of Japan. It was incorporated as a city in 1954. Until the opening of the San'in Main Line, the city center was located on the left bank of the mouth of the Gono River, and as a port town it distributed goods from the Gono River basin. Industries such as pulp and cement have developed using the water resources of the Gono River and the vast sand dunes near the mouth of the river, and in recent years the city has been attracting electrical machinery and other businesses. Iwami ware (Sekishu roofing tiles, Iwami pottery) is also a long-standing specialty of the city. Grapes, peaches, and pig farming are also cultivated here. The San'in Line branches off here. There is Arifuku Onsen. In October 2004, Sakurae Town in Ochi County was incorporated. ^{268.24 km2} . Population 25,697 (2010).

島根県中部，日本海に面する市。1954年市制。山陰本線開通まで市街地は江の川(ごうのがわ)の河口左岸にあり，港町として江の川流域の物資を集散した。江の川の水資源と河口付近の広大な砂丘地を利用しパルプ，セメントなどの工業が発達，近年は電気機械などの企業誘致も進む。古くからの石見(いわみ)焼（石州瓦，石見陶器）も特産。ブドウ，モモ栽培，養豚も行う。三江線が分岐する。有福(ありふく)温泉がある。2004年10月邑智郡桜江町を編入。268.24km²。２万5697人（2010）。
