Also known as acid-fast bacteria. A general term for bacteria that are resistant to acid decolorization when stained with certain aniline dyes. Mainly Mycobacterium genus, but some actinomycetes and diphtheroid bacteria also show acid-fastness. They are aerobic and contain unique fatty acids, higher alcohols, and carbohydrates. In addition to Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium leprae, there is a group of atypical acid-fast bacteria that cause lesions in human lungs, which are different from Mycobacterium tuberculosis. 抗酸性菌とも。ある種のアニリン色素で染色すると酸によって脱色されにくい細菌の総称。主としてマイコバクテリウム属であるが,若干の放線菌,ジフテロイド菌も抗酸性を示す。好気性で,独特の脂肪酸,高級アルコール,炭水化物を有する。病原菌としては結核菌,癩菌のほかに,結核菌とは異なるがヒトの肺に病変を起こす非定型抗酸菌の一群がある。
