A snake of the Boidae family of the Squamata order of the Reptilia class. It belongs to the Pythoninae subfamily of the same family, and is the largest living non-venomous snake in the world. It is found in southern Myanmar (Burma), Thailand, Indochina, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Nicobar Islands of India. It is 5 to 8 meters long, with the largest recorded length reaching 9.9 meters, but large individuals have become rare in recent years. It is a representative species of the so-called king snakes, named after the giant snake Python (king snake) that appears in Greek mythology. The back of the body is pale brown or pale yellow, with a beautiful yellow or yellowish brown mesh pattern bordered in black, and shines like brocade when exposed to sunlight. It has a thick body with 70 to 80 rows of smooth, fine scales around its body. It lives in rainforests and rubber forests on lowlands, and also appears in residential areas. They are nocturnal and prey on large mammals, livestock, and birds, although in extremely rare cases, large individuals have attacked human children or women.
